This is a short policy, because Metaeditor does not use cookies at all.

1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store and send back on later visits. Cookies can be genuinely useful — keeping you signed in, for example — but they are also the usual mechanism behind cross-site tracking, which is why the law in Europe and Türkiye requires consent for most of them.
2. The cookies this website uses
None. Metaeditor sets no first-party cookies and loads nothing from third parties that could set one: no analytics, no advertising scripts, no embedded media, no social media buttons, and no external fonts. Every file the pages use is served from this website itself. That is why there is no cookie banner here — there is nothing to consent to.
3. The one thing stored on your device
The website has a light theme, which every visitor sees by default, and a dark theme you can switch to with the button in the navigation bar. When you use that button, your browser stores your choice in its local storage under the name theme, so the site can open the same way next time.
Local storage is a browser feature, not a cookie: nothing in it is ever transmitted to the server or anyone else. The stored value is a single word — the name of the theme — written only after you press the button yourself, and it identifies nothing about you or your device. If you never touch the button, nothing is stored at all.
4. Removing the stored preference
You can remove the preference at any time by clearing this website's site data in your browser's settings — usually under privacy or history, described as clearing cookies and site data. Switching the theme back also simply overwrites the stored word. Removing it has one effect only: the site opens in the default light theme again.
5. If this ever changes
Should the website ever need a cookie in the future — for example, through a clearly labelled sponsored placement that cannot work without one — this policy will be rewritten first, and consent will be requested before any such cookie is set, as the law requires.
